After months of development, we've not only created a powerful desktop experience but also enhanced Hedy's core functionality for all users. The new native macOS app delivers the full Hedy experience optimized for your desktop workflow. Run Hedy on your Mac during virtual meetings, analyze recordings, or review past sessions with the power and screen real estate of your computer. Faster conversation analysis, access to system audio, and a new layout are just the beginning.
If you previously downloaded Hedy from the Mac App Store, you'll want to replace it with the new native app, which is now available for direct download:
⚙️ Hedy Improvements
During development of the native desktop app, we've upgraded many behind-the-scenes components:
Enhanced Stability During Sessions: We've updated our core session architecture to provide more reliable performance, even during longer meetings.
Improved Offline Support: Hedy now works better with slow or intermittent internet connections, allowing you to capture sessions more reliably even if your device is not online.
Faster Generation of Summaries: Get your session summaries and detailed meeting notes more quickly than ever before. This is currently available for sessions in English and will roll out for other languages in the coming weeks.
New Features You'll Love
Cantonese Support: We're continuing to expand our language capabilities with the addition of Cantonese as a supported session language. (Large speech recognition model recommended on Android/iOS for Cantonese).
Battery-Saving Mode: For those long meetings or days filled with back-to-back sessions, we've added a new option to reduce transcript processing speed, helping you extend battery life.
Device-Specific Enhancements
For iPhone & Mac Users: Experience faster audio processing thanks to GPU acceleration, making Hedy more responsive and battery efficient on Apple devices.
For Android Users: We've made significant improvements to Hedy's background operation on Android 15, so you can switch to other apps or turn off the screen and not worry about Hedy being terminated.
For iPad Users: Enjoy an improved layout optimized for iPad screens, making better use of the available space for a more intuitive experience.
What's Next?
The native Windows version is in development and will be available in the coming months. We're also going to prioritize some popular feature requests in immediate weeks, such as session tagging, organization, and search.
